2025 Paul de Mayo Award for Excellence Awarded to Dr. Wanli Zhang
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Wanli Zhang has been honoured with the 2025 Paul de Mayo Award for Excellence, the highest recognition for a graduate student in Western University’s Department of Chemistry.
Dr. Wanli Zhang received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Western University in January of 2025 (with Prof. Yining Huang), where his work was focused on characterization of metal-organic frameworks using solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Shortly afterwards, he moved to the High Field NMR Centre in Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) as the facility manager and research fellow. Wanli is the recipient of the 2025 Paul de Mayo Award for Excellence, the most prestigious graduate student recognition in the Department of Chemistry. He also received several research awards, including the Roy Young Chemistry Graduate Scholarship, Lipson-Baines Awards in Chemistry, ASPIRE Award, CSC and ENC Travel awards. His current research focuses on elucidating the structures, host–guest interactions, and molecular dynamics of porous materials, energy materials, and soft matter using advanced solid-state NMR spectroscopy and computational chemistry; and he has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals including J. Am. Chem. Soc., Sci. Adv., and Chem. Sci.
Congratulations to Dr. Wanli Zhang on their remarkable achievements!
